Joyce “J.J.” Rice, 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, left this life on January 11, 2010. J.J. was born in Manassas, Virginia on June 5, 1927. She made Pensacola her home in 1956 and had a great love for this city.
Her many friends and family will always remember her zest for life. J.J. would light up a room with her loud laughter and charm. She never met a stranger and her thoughtfulness was cherished.
J.J. was a loyal member of TOPS, KOPS, Osceola Women’s Golf Association and Fairfield Presbyterian Church. She was a sports enthusiast with a great love for golf and the New Orleans Saints. J.J. had a wonderful life filled with many adventures.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dale W. Rice; her daughters, Ann Wood (Gary), Vicki Pulse, Candi Pulse Atkins; her son, Lester Pulse (Jean); her step-children who she loved as her own, Dale Rice (Phyllis), Don Rice, Donna Ernst (Bryan), Maryanne Fiedler (Jeff); 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; special friends, Linda Sharp, Pete and Susan Sharp, Henrietta Cook, Fay Ellis and Laura Kennedy.
There are no words to express how deeply she was loved and will be missed. J.J. will be in our hearts forever. She was beautiful, inside and out!
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.

J.J. was the shining light in the lives of so many. Oh, how we will miss the holidays and the other special times with her. Her laughter and genuine zest for life will be sorely missed by us all. We have many funny stories that will remain with us always.
